Layout Ideas
Started By
New layouts are determined by Robyn. As much as i like them I think some themes covering non American/christian holidays would be fun! We do have a palyer base outside of the US and players that might night celebrate things like Halloween, Christmas etc.

If anyone has any ideas for layouts post them here. I'll try to keep a running tally of ideas. And if any mods see any lay outs suggested and I'm slacking off on up dating this post, for a while, please do so for me!!

This is for ideas that Robyn may look at and implement if she likes since new layouts are up to her. I guarantees she'll do these just looking for ideas.

Here are my ideas:

1) A solid dark blue background covered in random dog toys
2) A solid dark red background with random paint splatters of various colors
3) A light green (think Easter green) with a bunch of variously scattered peace marks

Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, (Sorry if I spell these wrong, not Jewish) Chinese new year, thanksgiving, Easter, 911, Columbus day, Independence day, Memorial day for Americans and other holidays that should be added but not done just for everybody.

Ramadan, Vesakh, Diwali to start with.

I'm permanently using the Earth Day layout because it is nice on my eyes. So I'm happy it is for all pages and not only the main page.

What about a Birthday layout? We get a Birthday cake on ower B-day so why on your birthday a Bithday layout would be on for you for the day.

would love to see a Cinco de Mayo or Dia de los Muertos theme! There are tons of amazing holidays and other completely obscure days that could be brought to light!

How does Roo know about Fire-Prevention Month in the Philippines?? o.O

Anyways, I support, but all I can think of are Philippine holidays. If you want a list, here they are:

You could have a Filipino version of Christmas: parols(lanterns in the shape of stars and such) are widely used as lights. :)
There's the Philippine Independence Day, held on June 12(I know that's over; just suggesting).
There's the Buwan ng Wika, or the Month of the Language, in which we celebrate our National Language, celebrated every August.
There's Bonifacio Day, I don't actually remember when it's celebrated x__x.
There's Rizal Day, which is every December 30.

..I'll let you know if there's more. :)

I always use the earth day layout (*loves darkness*), so I'm not really one to suggest layouts. I don't think it's a bad thing that we've only had "American/Christian holidays", but it would be really cool to branch out a bit. Why even bother with holidays at all? Maybe do monthly themes, for whatever celebratory thing is going on that month (the more obscure, the better!). For instance, instead of celebrating Valentine's Day this year (what can I say, I'm a cynic...) I celebrated National Ferris Wheel Day. Much more fun :D

For instance:
January is National Thank You Month (not sure how this could be a layout, though XD),
February is National Bird Feeding Month,
March is Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines,
April is Jazz Appreciation Month (musical theme, anyone?),
May is Zombie Awareness Month (yessss),
June is Caribbean-American Heritage Month (sounds islandy!),
July is full of independence days, so maybe there would be Independence Day Month (flags from various countries?),
August is when the Edinburgh Festival takes place, so there could be something artsy?
September doesn't really have anything interesting, but there are a few heritage days, so...heritage?
October is National Arts and Humanities Month
November is National Novel Writing Month (woo!)
December has Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hannukah, and Festivus, for us Seinfeld fans :P

I'm partial to Zombie month and National Novel Writing Month. Those could be fun ^.^

Personally, I'm never very fond of the different layouts, so I just switch back to default.

An idea I've been meaning to put across to Robyn is, instead of overhauling the whole layout, we could do sort of like what Chicken Smoothie does, and just put up a themed main site banner for certain holidays and such. That way no one's eyes are getting melted by clashing colors, and we save ourselves the cost and effort of someone outside of Alacrity doing completely different layouts. More efficient, less stress/mess/cost/etc. if you ask me. :P

What about Canadian Thanksgiving? [Oct 10 this year]

Support. We need some new layouts that aren't just American/Christian holidays. I can't think of any right now, cause I'm half-asleep and such, but if I'll do, I'll be back.
